☆Qur’anic Gems☆ Day 15. Ramadhan 1435.

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 183:

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain taqwa (God-consciousness)

We are indeed grateful to Our Lord, Allah for allowing us to reach the the middle half of ramadan, alhamdulillah. & As today marks the 15th day of ramadan, this is the ideal time to review the purpose & goal of this blessed month.

We increase in all kinds of ibaadah; salah, charity, qur’an, kindness in this blessed month…so that we may reap the price of eeman at the end of our fasting (2:183). By increasing our eeman, we become more conscious of Allah, and following His command becomes easier: & that is the ultimate goal of ramadan.

How far have we gone in achieving our goal? We only have the second half of ramadhan to go. Think, reflect & ensure that you do whatever it takes to make you increase in eeman in this ramadhan.

“It is He that sent down tranquility upon the hearts of the believers that they may increase in faith along with their (present) faith” (48:4)

May He (swt) grant us that which we seek in this holy month, ameen

☆Qur’anic Gems☆ Day 14. Ramadhan 1435.

Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 39:

[Iblis (Satan)] said: “O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all.

Subhanallah, when we look around us, we cannot deny how indeed, the path of error has indeed been adorned, making it very easy to follow satans command instead of Allah’s. Look at our youths today, immensely into haram fashion, even the hijab has been so fashionized likewise It is so hard to stop backbiting but coincidentally, it is very easy to do.

This is no surprise because man is indeed very impatient. Satan promises us of immediate pleasure by following him while Allah tells that with him is the chief of all pleasures (jannah), but who knows this? “Only the men of knowledge” (2:269)

No wonder the prophet (saw) said: “Paradise is surrounded with things that are not pleasant to the soul and Hell is surrounded with things that are pleasant to the soul”? [At-tirmidhi]

” …(Satan saying): “verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth and I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. [14:22]

We implore Allah to protect us from satans deception always & make us of those who live with the whole Qur’an, in heart and in mind, ameen

☆Qur’anic Gems☆ Day 8. Ramadhan 1435.

Surah Al-Anaam, Verse 162:

Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Verily, my Salat (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

In order to become devoted slaves of Allah, we have do as Allah (swt) commanded His messenger (saw) to do, in the above verse.

Salah & sacrifice: Indeed, we do not allow any living creature, no matter how important he may be, to have a share of your worship. We make salah to Allah alone, the lord of all mankind & jinn alike, not to any jinn or man, & not seeking the praise of men, for verily, in that is the lesser type of shirk (joining patners in worship of Allah), May Allah protect us. Similarly, all our sacrifices (umrah, hajj, others),is for The One Who gave us the means of offering such a sacrifice, alone, & not letting any man or jinn, a share of our intention.

Living & dying: Shouldn’t we live for The One Who gave us the life itself? Let’s make intention for our every action to be for Allah. Why do we study & go for work: “to seek halal means of fending for ourselves, our families & to help the religion of Allah by spending from what we gain, & likewise other actions we do. Let’s lead our lives in such a way that we do everything for The One Who gave us the gift of life, -i.e we do that which only pleases Allah for surely He never wastes the reward of the good-doer. (3:171)

“O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah & fear Him. seek the means of nearness to Him, & strive hard in His cause as much as you can, so that you may be successful. [5:35]

☆Qur’anic Gems☆ Day 6. Ramadhan 1435.

Surah An-Nisa, Verse 174:

O mankind! Verily, there has come to you a convincing proof (Prophet Muhammad SAW) from your Lord, and We sent down to you a manifest light (this Quran).

Allah (swt) describes the Qur’an as a ‘manifest light’ for indeed it is the light of ultimate guidance. Without this light, we would have been wondering about in utter darkness, not knowing who Our creator is & for which purpose we were created, and would have destroyed ourselves in following what other humans do.

“Indeed this Qur’an guides to that which is most just & right…[17:9]

But How do benefit from this light? Are reciters of the assured of this light?, “We can do that by understanding the word of Allah” the ultimate purpose of sending down the Qur’an.

“(This is) a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” [38:29]

Let’s aim to make maximum use of this blessed month by understanding what we recite in order to find guidance for our souls & increase our faith. Let’s change our perspective of the Qur’an as an ‘ajr book’ (reward) to that of a guidebook on how to live in this world. And then, we would truly find ourselves enveloped by the light of Allah, in shaa Allah.

May He (swt) gift us with more from His ‘Gems’ and make of those who live with the whole Quran, in heart & mind, ameen

☆Qur’anic Gems Day 4.

Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 190-191.

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): “Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.

Indeed for those who ‘think deeply’, are signs in everything, for He did not create anything, in the earth in ourselves, (51:21) or make anything happen except with due knowledge & purpose.

Let’s live with Allah in our hearts, not on our tongues. Nothing was created on this earth or in the heavens without a purpose. The breath-taking sky, the winter snow, the day-long rainfall, the beautiful gardens, the fruits of different colours & sizes, tasty to those who eat …indeed, all these are pointers to Him , pointers to His oneness, and stops for us to remember, reflect and increase in our conciousness of HIm.

Likewise, nothing in our lives happens without a reason. Not the sadness, the happiness or the afflictions. They are all from Allah for a particular reason. They are lessons for us to grasp and to live with. Lessons for those who remember Allah, for verily, those who remember Allah will see aright. (7:201)

May He (swt) gift us with more from His ‘Gems’ and make of those who live with the whole Qur’an, in heart and in mind, ameen.
